Break The Spirit of Perpetual Stressful Doing
One thing the Lord has been working on me in this season is to surrender more and more into Him and to actually rest and receive in Him.
To be honest I’m a recovering workaholic, control freak and stress head who needs to have everything figured out by yesterday. I’ve also lived on a perpetual hamster wheel of do, do, do, go, go, go and gotta get that perpetual wheel of getting stuff done spinning for many years so it hasn’t been an easy one to break but the Lord is good and faithful at restoring things for His glory.
God is teaching me there is another way. Another path. Another way of doing things that doesn’t lead to chronic burnout, stress and exhaustion but starting each day abiding in Him, His presence, His love and guidance for you.
When you follow the Lord’s guidance on things there is a time and season where He will ask you to simply rest, to receive, to hang up the perpetual stress of doing all the things and not really getting anywhere and simply REST & RECEIVE which I know can be hard for a lot of people especially those of us who are addicted to doing all the time.
So I invite you today to get your journal, Bible and pen and ask the Lord-
Lord Jesus, what would resting and receiving in You look like on a day to day basis?
Lord Jesus, what would surrendering my day to You look like?
Lord Jesus, what would completely resting in You look and feel like each day?
Allow the Lord to reveal to you what He wishes for you to know. One of the things He told us is that His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
God’s ways DO NOT involve you destroying your health for a dollar, ruining your relationships for a business goal, pushing your kids away in resentment for a client, or destroying your life for material man made accolades.
God’s ways involve you getting adequate rest and sleep and completing things from a place of peace which first starts by seeking and abiding in Him each day.
God’s ways involve you living life and life abundantly where all of your needs are met, your life and relationships flourish and your health continues to blossom and bloom, and your children and family feel loved, seen and heard.
The world’s way would tell you to go go go do do do produce produce produce produce at the expense of your health, happiness, family, and wellbeing.
God’s way would tell you to rest more, receive more, love more, create in times and seasons as led by Him that not only nourish and support your health and wellbeing but improve your life and the lives of those around you.
So rather than signing up for the world's ways, why not God’s?
Heavenly Father, I come before you today and I repent for all the times that I’ve put other things, to do lists, objects, work, man made schedules and dramas before you Lord. I repent Lord for all the ways in which I’ve been living, doing and creating things that are not of You or Your ways Lord and that hurt and harm my health, wellbeing, family and relationships. Restore me Lord, restore my heart, mind, body and spirit to live in Your will and ways for me Lord. Teach me Lord to live life abiding in You and the deep rest and love that you have for me. In Jesus’s Name, Amen. Thank you, Lord.
As the Lord reminded me today it’s not by works that we are saved but by HIS GRACE.
Rest in the Grace of God today and trust that all is truly well because it is. And allow Him to lovingly remove you from that perpetual hamster wheel of do do doing you’ve been doing and come home to REST & RECEIVE in HIM.
It’s well worth it.
